Crota is a hive God. It is known that he was the one who lead the Hive to conquer the Moon from Humanity during the Collapse, and that he subsequently "fell asleep," though not much else is known about him currently, other than he is the Son of Oryx. Crota can be seen in the raid "Crota's End" on The Moon.
History[]
Crota started his long life like any other hive, despite being the son of the Hive's god: Oryx. Crota made his way up the ranks from thrall to knight and beyond. The only advantage he had was the sword his father gave him. At some point he was cast out by his father for letting the hive into Oryx's throne world. When the hive arrived in the solar system they invaded the moon, cracked it's surface and burrowed deep. And when the guardians tried to take it back, Crota butchered them. Eris morn injured Crota and sent him back into his own throne world.
