The Red War is a story element in Destiny 2. It is a conflict between the Guardians of the Last City and the Cabal Red Legion.

At the end of The Taken War, the remaining Cabal sent out a distress signal to the rest of their Empire to summon reinforcements. Two years later, the reinforcements arrived with Dominus Ghaul at it's head. They assaulted the City and stole the light in less than a day. This marked the beginning of the red war.
